Salt Lake Section ACS

Message from the Chair

Welcome to the home page of the Salt Lake Section of the American Chemistry Society (ACS).

Greetings to all the members of the ACS Salt Lake local section! I hope you are having a productive and exciting year here in Utah. This is my first time serving as chair of the local section and so far it has been a wonderful experience. It is an exciting time to be a chemist in Utah. We have two ACS speakers coming to Utah in the fall, we have received a new innovative project grant, the Northwest/Rocky Mountain joint regional meeting is in Park City in June (hosted by the Central Utah Section), and the National ACS meeting is coming next spring to Salt Lake. What an exciting time to be a chemist in Utah!

Despite all the good things happening here in Utah there are some national concerns that I'm sure many of you have been following in the news concerning the funding of chemical research in the United States. I strongly urge you to join the ACS Legislative Action Network at www.act4chemistry.org to stay up to date on the problems facing chemists nationally, as well as to find ways you can help make a difference.

Thank you for commitment to the American Chemical Society and the Salt Lake local section. If you any questions about the local section, would like to become more involved with local section activities, need help finding chemical jobs here in Utah, or would just like to chat then please email me.

Sincerely,

Matt Kriech, Chair
